Ibrahim Bunduka: “I’m ready for Leone Stars call-up”
Ibrahim Bunduka, a Sierra Leonean footballer plying his trade in Cyprus with First Division Club, Alke FC has told Sierra Express Media Sports that he deserves a call up at the national side, Leone Stars.
“I think I have something to contribute to the team, especially in Leone Stars’ bid to qualify for South Africa 2013 African Cup of Nations and Brazil 2014 World Cup respectively.
Ibrahim 21, the Son of Kamboi Eagles longest serving legendary captain, Alusine Bunduka is currently Alke FC’s left winger and is versatile as left back in his current team.
Ibrahim was in Sierra Leone when the national side, Leone stars traveled on international duty away to Turkey playing against Iraq and Jordan in the capital Amman. He had given an interview to Sierra Express Media Sports earlier at the National Stadium, in Freetown immediately after watching his home team Kamboi Eagle beat Old Edwardians by 3-0. Asked whether he would want to contribute to the national side, he disclosed his wish thinking as much that if the coach decides to call him he is delighted to be part of the Leone stars team.
Ibrahim’s father was playing in Leone Stars back line of defence in the 1980s and was part of the team that traveled to Senegal to compete in the 1986 Zone II tournament where Leone Stars were runners up, losing 3-1 to the host nation.
The Ex-Salamina left back went to Cyprus 13 years ago as a kid desperately looking for an opportunity to fine-tune his footballing talent with hopes of giving back to his country what he has learnt.
The lanky player is having a good sporting prowess and is good at set pieces with good abilities to passing and crossing the ball to strategic position in the field of play from the wing.
