Finance minister signs acceptance certificate
Freetown, 09 June (SLENA): The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Samura Kamara and the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone have signed an acceptance certificate of two sets of mobile containers, vehicle inspection system valued at forty-one million Yuan, including freight, insurance premium and technical service fee.
According to the Protocols, this gesture came about as a result of letters exchanged on December 2012 between the Governments of the People’s Republic of China and Sierra Leone.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development said the Chinese Government has already donated the said items to the National Revenue Authority (NRA), stating that the scanners donated by the Chinese Government will help custom radiation and inspection processes in executing their duties.
He noted that since the items donated are mobile, they can also be used in border areas. He concluded by expressing appreciation to the Chinese Government and the People’s Republic of China for their kind gesture.
In his response, the Chinese Ambassador informed the minister that both Governments have checked and agreed on the quantity, quality and specification of the above-mentioned goods, after which the Chinese officially handed over the goods to the Sierra Leonean side.
The certificate was signed induplicate in the office of the Minister of Finance, Gloucester Street in Freetown.
