Ex- Fighters Organisation Assure Salone
Sierra Leoneans that actively took part in the country’s decade long civil war comprising of all armed fractions called Ex-fighters have assured the people of Sierra Leone that the national elections slated for November 15th will be free from violence.
The National Treasurer of the Ex-Fighters Organisation, Chief Francis Foray said the reasons for such statement was as a result of speculations that the elections will be violence adding that some political parties are also galvanizing ex-combatants to cause violence.
He noted that the organisation’s vision is to campaign against violence at all levels thereby saying no to violence during the elections. He said his organisation in a not too distant feature stage a symposium aim to map out preventions and remedial action of violence. Reacting to the question why it is only on the eleven hours before they are coming up, Chief Foray said there is a need to greet confidential relations between Sierra Leoneans and ex-fighters noting that such a move cannot be at a better time than now.
He said the move to form the organisation is an indication that Ex-Fighters country-wide do not have any visual intention to fight anymore. The statement was made at the weekly press briefing at the Ministry of Information’s and Communication at Youyi Building, Brookfields.
