Farmers cry their problems to Chavez Foundation

Farmers in various parts in the country, such as Makeni, Gbangbatoke, Pujehun, Mano Dasse, Mail 91 etc., cry their problems to Hugo Chavez Foundation in order to look into their problems and help them as they have promised.

The farmers are asking the organization for help with training in modern agriculture techniques and the rightful farming implements, fertilizers, and seeds, so that they, the local families would be able to produce fruits and vegetables year round, adding that if only the organization supported them, they will be able to grow sufficient for their own consumption with a surplus which can be sold at market to generate income, create jobs, and help reduce poverty.

In his response the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chavez International, Alimammy B. Sankoh, said they target mostly vulnerable woman (especially widows, destitute and divorced women as direct beneficiaries) of their program on improving the life of African women.  He noted that, the impact of the vision championed by the Hugo Chavez International Foundation, their farming programs for Africa will also include empowering women by empowering them with skills, responsibility, and increased status within the family and community. He further said that they want to ensure sustainable development in helping people to earn their own income, thus enabling them to have economic security, control of their livelihoods, and self reliance.
