Airtel boss speaks on network problems
Airtel’s Managing Director, RVS Bhullar (in photo), yesterday at the Ministry of Information and Communication weekly press briefing cleared the air on the issue of their network outages of late in Sierra Leone saying the hitches are due to their on-course improvement to provide a clear and steady network for their subscribers.
Mr. Bhullar said Ericson is helping Airtel to revitalise and harmonise a network that will provide a better quality services to ease the users’ access in global communication links.
He furthered that the situation is not uncommon with networks of high growth in subscriber numbers and ongoing coverage expansion. RVS Bhullar disclosed that Airtel has set aside $100,000 to upgrade 51 areas in Sierra Leone. He ended by saying that Airtel will do everything within its power to bring back quality service to their beloved subscribers.
Speaking at the conference, the Public Affairs Manager of the National Telecommunications Company (NATCOM), Abdul Kuyateh, said Airtel is working hard in restoring the network problems that has provoked subscribers across the country. The technical issue arose from the increasing subscriber base. Natcom has been crucial to see that all telecommunications companies deliver their services.
Abdul Kuyateh also said that NATCOM believes that upon the 30 day extension they had given them, Airtel will deliver.
Kuyateh also confessed that NATCOM is having problems with all the mobile companies but people are only pointing a finger at Airtel.
