NASSIT Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Workers and staff of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) have celebrated the entity’s 10^th anniversary of existence in Sierra Leone since its establishment in 2002 as an Act of Parliament at their West Regional offices on Wallace Johnson Street in the heart of the capital Freetown on Friday May 4.

Speaking during the watershed event, the Deputy Director General (Admin), Joseph Mans Jr. said NASSIT is celebrating its 10^th anniversary till the close of this year, 2012. The document which established NASSIT was approved by former President, Dr. Alhaji Ahmed Tejan Kabbah. Mr. Joseph Mans said they are getting along with such legacy establishment today which can boast of three (3) big regional offices showcasing that they here to stay.

Mr. Mans also said that they intend to showcase what NASSIT intends to do in the coming years. As part of the activities marking NASSIT’s tenth anniversary celebrations its management signed to undertake a football gala, organise a members conference, TV quiz competition on NASSIT  literature, Muslim and Christian thanksgiving, build and design covers, pens, cups and social and event awards night wherein NASSIT will recognize and award staff for their hard work, effort and dedication on service. He therefore encouraged all NASSIT workers to continue working harder.

NASSIT’s Director General, Sam Bangura Jr. said that since their beloved institution NASSIT was established on May 1^st 2002 the institution has had an increasing demand of their operational assignments. Sam Bangura Jr. Said this has gained us the enviable position among the Para- financial institutions in this country.

“We must be proud of this and walk tall in the streets of Freetown, Bo, and Kenema and all over the country”, he stated. The Director General said a committee has been set up charged with the responsibilities of handling all the affairs of the celebrations.

He therefore encouraged his staff and said as they are celebrating their noble institution’s tenth anniversary they should not forget the challenges that lie ahead of them. “Let us remain focused on our goals and objectives and ever remain committed to excellence and dedicated services”, he declared. A birthday song was sung to climax the noble institution’s 10^th anniversary.
