Fuel and water crisis hits Freetown
The central business district of Freetown is hit with serious water and fuel crisis which has generated a public dismay within the past few weeks.
As the struggle continued over the weekend, the fourth estate has termed government’s administrational neglect a worrisome note as certain agencies that are responsible to deliver quality statesmanship jobs are denying such services to the people.
The Sierra Leone Guma Valley Water Company and the National Petroleum Company have occupied the headlines over this lacklustre leading to suffering of many in the country.
The streets of Freetown are faced with serious challenges for petroleum and water products. These commodities are in scarce supply and evidenced by the new scenes in the capital Freetown as the people are spotted applying the ‘Abu Blackian Theories’ by trekking on foot from one end of town to the other, relentless in the long queues in search of these commodities.
Sources revealed that the shortage of fuel may not be unconnected to the 2009 Act of Parliament, which dictates that government should stop subsidizing petroleum product and it must be done in a gradual process.
Another source also says that the scarcity of petroleum products is a natural one created only to infuse people’s inquest as to how they will react to any possible increment.
