SLPP Leadership gets a rescue

If this era is that of young, promising, energetic but focused leadership, then SLPP has got a rescue in the person of Dr. (medical doctor) Anthony Kakpindi Soyei, a person that many in the party see as possessing both the ideological aura and physical charisma to lead the SLPP; beating all those that have expressed their interest already, people in party parlance have told Sierra Express Media. 46 year old Dr. Soyei has been in the country after his education abroad since 1996 providing health care services during the war to the people of this country, heading all Italia Relief services to Sierra Leone as he served as the Italian Consul to country.  He has also offered his priceless service in the educational development of the country as he serves as Head of the Pediatric Department at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, and opening the first nursing college in the city of Bo – the Martha Bernassola Nursing College and having a state of the art satellite clinic in Wellington, Freetown.

Dr. Anthony Soyei whose candidature has already sent electrifying messages to the old folks of the SLPP that things are now taking a different turn, has gathered untold momentum among the youths of this country who see him as the youngest aspirant Sierra Leone has produced in years of its political history. Those who know Dr. Soyei have reckoned that his unassuming humanitarian quality coupled with his vision to bring unity and sanity and give the youth a chance in the political dispensation of the country have said he has no match for the time being in the race to clinch the flagship of the party.    

For the past two years, Dr. Anthony Soyei has pioneered the drive to reconcile the SLPP and the splinter Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC); an idea which many in the party still frown at but at the same time considered as the recipe for the success of the party come 2012.

A rather funny but intriguing phenomenon that lurks around the candidature of the SLPP ace is that many of the women folks see his handsomely character as a one matching the clout of the party and can thus stand up to any other party in winning the heart of the people.

In a widely publicized letter written to the Secretary General of the SLPP Dr. Soyei has catalogued his candidature aptitude as the party needing him, “a person that is new, neutral, clean, sellable and capable of mending fences and bridging the gap between grassroots and the party; a leader who can be transparent, accountable, responsible, responsive and effective in the clarion call for nation building and without an iota of doubt clinch the Presidency, come 2012.”
