Advocacy Network commemorates Children and Cultural Week

Kids Advocacy Network on Wednesday April 18 launched the ‘Children and our Culture Week’ at the Arc of Hope Community Center, Robert Street, Freetown.

Giving an overview of the week, the National Public Relations Officer of Kids Advocacy Network, Alimatu Bangura said they aim at educating children on their cultural relics.

She said since 2009 when they began commemorating their children and culture week they came to realize that 65% of children knew nothing about their cultural rights and cannot claim such rights because they are ignorant of them.

She said they will be having a National Children Talent and Cultural showbiz at the British Council auditorium on April 21 this year.

The National President Edmond Alim Fornah called on Sierra Leonean children to respect the culture of the country.  He urged them to refrain from violence and contribute to the development of the country.

The Deputy Director of Culture at the Ministry Tourism and Culture, Madam Saio officially launched the Children and Our Culture Week.
