Gabon’s Information Minister invites IB Kargbo

The Gabonese Minister of Digital Economy, Communication and the Post has extended an invitation to Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Communications to participate at the 9th Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers (ICIM) at the Gabonese Capital, Libreville from 19 – 20 April, 2012.

In his invitation letter to Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, Honourable Blaise Louemba wrote: “I have the honour to invite you personally to participate at our next 9th Session of Islamic Conference of Information Ministers which will be held from 19- 20 April in Gabon.  The Ministerial meeting will be preceded by a meeting of the experts scheduled for the 17 -18 April, 2012.”

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone’s Information Attaché to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alhaji M.B Jalloh who  arrived in Libreville on Monday, 16th April, 2012 as an advance party of the Sierra Leone delegation today joined Senior Officials from member States of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and discussed  among other issues on the agenda,  restructuring process of the International Islamic News Agency (IINA) and the Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU), establishment of an OIC Muslim journalists Union, opening Media offices in some member States, project of launching an Islamic TV satellite channel under the name of OIC, proposed information programme for Africa projecting its place and role in the Muslim world.

Ibrahim Ben Kargbo who doubles as the Chief Spokesman for the Sierra Leone Government is to be accompanied by Abdulai Bayraytay, the newly appointed National Publicity and Outreach Coordinator and Communications Advisor at the Office of Government Spokesman and two other Information Officers attached to the Ministry.

The Gabonese President, Ali Bongo Ondimba is expected to open the 9th ICIM called “the Session of Information Technologies in the service of peace and development” at the Conference Palace at the Democracy City here in Libreville.
