Venezuela Celebrates 10th, Anniversary of Imperialist Coup

Ten years ago today, April 12, the peace and freedom-loving people of Venezuela defeated foreign backed terrorist aggression and coup that briefly toppled their leader, President Hugo Chavez, the objective of the coup was to reverse the democratic process at the tears of the masses of the Venezuela.

This day was observed by the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for peace, friendship and solidarity over the weekend in east of Freetown at Allen town.

Giving her solidarity message on-behalf of the foundation, Esther Aminata Zorokong, International Solidarity Programs Officer said on that day the Venezuela’s presidential, National Assembly, state media, Attorney-General, chief justice and other democratic infrastructures were attacked by armed opposition forces to overthrow the elected government of Venezuela.

She noted that lives were senselessly massacred, the democratically-elected president, His Excellency Dr. Hugo Chavez some members of his cabinet and high officials of Government were kidnapped and held hostage.

She added that employees were also held hostage for two days until troops, loyal to the citizens of Venezuela and to the state, freed the hostages.

The chief Executive Director of Chavez Foundation Mr. Alimamy Bakarr Sankoh said ten years later, Venezuela as a country is still grappling coming to terms with the trauma, pains, tribulations and agonies the suffered in the hands of misguided persons.

He said they are calling upon the international community led by Russia, China, India, and Brazil to use their powers to pressure the United Nations Security Council for them to shoulder their moral responsibilities by staging an inquest into April 12 massacre.
