Mr. President, is Sierra Leone moving to a one party state?

Our people say history teaches, but teaches nothing. It could be recalled that the advent of a one party state in the history of this country started when the wild spread defection by opposition members in the 1977 national election under the oppressive regime of late President Siaka Steven.

Mr. President the alarming rate at which the opposition members are cross carpeting only reminds us of a similar history in waiting, one would not be tempted to say the over used adage of those politicians who are prostituting from one political bed to the other are doing so to satisfy their egoistic appetite.

Evidences are pointing toward the same old practice, that this continuous defection does not seek national interest but a satisfaction to a political desire; in a political wise words some may refer to it as a government that is trying to have a national colour, little to those little thinkers that are colour blind.

Mr. President if I can hold you against your words whiles trying to climb state office, you promised the people of this country faithfully to rule with a new found ideology that would not reflect the past despicable (APC) regime, regime judged by many Sierra Leoneans as a failure, in your political gospel statement sir you said this is a new APC, a party that is built upon the solid rock of a democratic intuitions, in paradox  what is new about this (APC) is that the former exist in the age of darkness whiles the later in the age of light.

Sir while few had been bought over by state resources to join the misguided APC train, some of us rational Sierra Leoneans refuse to be dragged through the mud and remain undaunted by the task.

If I can throw a word of caution to the state sir, I would say critically examine comments made by defectors, especially the one made by “John Leigh” that he is joining the ruling party to see if success awaits him, and if so he will ask close associates to join him, is only but a pointer to show a clear picture of what I call politics of intent and not patriotism.

It is said that politics is for the politicians, but as the biggest state actor sir you are honour bound to be clear and focus on state issues, to uphold the symbol of our national integrity which you have sworn to protect.

I normally say if change is not necessary it is necessary for us not to change, but as a nation born with the new found spirit of attitudinal and behavioral change, Sir let all as a people usher in change quoted by the dictate of (ABC)by holding on to a portion of our own bargain.

  • Well said Mohamed I agree with you my dear brother I like you brother believe that “NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT BUT CHANGE” so to ask for change when it’s not necessary is a waste of time. To all the defectors I say are you really patriotic, nationalistic or just plain and simple greed and are looking for a gateway to enrich yourselves. If that is the case then you are in the right party to do so.I believe all those defect from the slpp to the apc do so for greed and selfish reasons, so I’ve never been wrong in my believe.
