President Koroma to boycott OBBA
Reports from the Southern city of Bo have it that President Koroma will not be honoring the Old Bo Boys Association’s (OBBA) annual event slated for the weekend for reasons that he would be snubbed. Koroma is reported to have said that he is saving himself a possible embarrassment with Maada Bio’s presence who rumours have spelled that he is going to be given a hero’s honor on home soil.
Our Bo correspondent said a secret meeting was held in Bo where plans were revealed that Maada Bio is going to be honored in the event marking OBBA’s annual speech and prize giving confab in a way a snub will be stage-managed to embarrass the incumbent Ernest Bai Koroma who hails from the Northern Region of Makeni.
According to our correspondent, a hammock has been prepared where Bio is going to be paraded as a chief.
In real terms the south is sending political stir waves, says a political analyst, adding, “It is unfortunate though that the issue centers around the OBBA confab”.
It could be recalled that a scenario unfolded in Bo, in 2007, where Charles Francis Margai who then defected from the SLPP was given an order of preference up against Solomon Ekuma Berewa, then flag bearer of the SLPP. A similar thing is likely to occur in the President Koroma and Julius Maada Bio situation, says our correspondent. We tried to reach the Resident Minister and organizers of the OBBA confab to confirm this apprehension but we are yet to get their response.
