Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s
It is of popular interest when the Guinean Republic, a sister nation to our country Sierra Leone, decides to cease Yenga upon a reason of porous border and unwanted activities of rebel forces in the Guinean soil.
With some of these stated reasons, Sierra Leone and Yengatonians were pleased and thoughtful as to the foreign incursion of our piece of land by the Guineans. A new found paradox to this situation is the fact that Sierra Leone as a country is now enjoying a stable peace and not a fragile one anymore; so by all indications, Yenga must be released back to our internal and local authority.
Evidence has appeared that the Guineans have annexed Yenga as their property. Sierra Express Media considers the lack of commitment by a sister nation to solve or mediate the inter-state squabble peacefully as a show of disrespect and an affront to our identity as a nation.
Unscrupulous politicians have turned the Yenga situation as a political game where to score a goal.
SEM considers such actions of rogue politicians as disrespectful to the country. The comment made by Minister of Political Affairs, Alhaji Alpha Kanu of late telling Sierra Leoneans to thank President Koroma for redeeming Yenga is a true reflection of what politicians can do in the name of scoring political goals.
We demand that Yenga must be released and as the saying goes give Caesar what is Caesar’s and to Sierra Leone what is Sierra Leone’s.
We who are the mouthpiece of the republic – being members of the 4th estate cannot relent in our efforts to ring the bell out to the public of our common heritage being handed back.
