Non Violence/Awareness raising gala to commence next week

The much trumpeted and eagerly awaited Non-Violence and Awareness Raising football competition will commence on Wednesday 11th April at the Grassfield playing field, Lumley, West of the capital Freetown.

Eight teams namely: Grassfield, Wilberforce, Brookfields, Hill Station, MAFA, Aberdeen, Murray Town and Coal Farm will partake in the competition, which is co-sponsored by John B. Tucker and Thomas Daddy Brima popularly known as “Mac Dad” (in photo).

According to “Mac Dad” they are organizing the competition to centre the issue of youth marginalization in the country. He said they are sensitizing their folks through sports how they should behave themselves to be regarded in the public as future leaders. He called on all to witness the matches throughout the campaign.

In a football family meeting held over the weekend at the Grassfield Community Centre, participating teams were given Le100,000 to prepare their clubs. They resolved that the organizers will foot all expenditures covering transportations and camping of all semi finalists and no team will pay a single cent as registration fee.

“The winner of the Non-violence and Awareness Raising Gala will bag Le4 million, Runners-up will pocket the sum of  Le 2million, and the best behaved team will receive the sum of Le500,000, Mac Dad assure all participating teams.”
