FC Lamin lifts Fred Claye Trophy

FC Lamin were crowned champions on Sunday April 1st, in the Fred Claye Trophy competition after defeating Baw Baw FC 2-1 at the Lakka playing field.

Both teams were impressive in the first half making it tough to account for the goals. It took 35 minutes for Saidu Kamara to break that deadlock before the break.

Baw Baw FC dominated ball possession in the second half, but FC Lamin Striker; Simbo Dumbuya doubled the lead in the hour mark converting a through pass around the 18 yard box.

Baw Baw FC misfired almost in the dying minute to poach an equalizer.

Speaking to Mr. Fred Claye, the chief sponsor of the competition, he said he was delighted to see a peaceful and colorful competition marking the events. He said he will continue to help develop football in the Peninsula community.

The owner of Lamin FC, Pa-Lamin Dumbuya told Sierra Express Media Sports that he is delighted for the win. He said his team has recorded another trophy lead and are taking the gold Fred Claye trophy home with smiles and joy.

Dignitaries present at the jam packed grand final included Sweet Kay, WAFA Vice Chair and Chairman Foday Turay, and Abdul Kanasieu.

  2. Runners-up Baw Baw FC – Le 1,000.000 – 20 Silver Medals

  6. Goal King – John Simbo (Sussex)
  7. Best Manager – Pa. Lamin Dumbuya (FC Lamin)
  8. Best Fair Play – FC Tolo
  9. Best Coach – Fani Coker (Father FC )
  10. Best Player – Mohamed Bangura (Baw Baw FC)
  11. Man of the Grand final – Mohamed Bangura (Baw Baw FC)
