Margai Blasts APC
The leader of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Party, Charles F. Margai, has blasted the ruling APC government of not measuring up to the expectation of the people. Speaking to his party supporters at Pujehun, Mr. Margai said that he asked his supporters to vote to put an end to tribalism a thing they (APC) have not averted.
Blood Not For Sale
Desmond Lewis one of Sierra Leone’s long serving blood donors, has said on radio that they as donors have clearly told medical doctors that blood donated to the blood bank must not be sold to patients that desperately need if it. He added that it must be given free even though patients are supposed to pay between Le5,000 and Le10,000 service fee.
Sickle Cell Society Calls
Mr. Vandy Siaka, public relations officer of the Sickle Cell Society, disclosed that a total of 23% of the population have sickle cell. With such prevalence rate in the country he said that it should be a cause for concern for the government.
VP’s Police Charged with Robbery
Sergeant Alimamy Kamara, a former bodyguard of the Vice President Alhaji Chief Sam-Sumana, has together with Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohamed M’bayoh Bangura with others, been arraigned before Magistrate Davies Cole of Court No. 1 on charges ranging from robbery with aggravation to receiving stolen properties.
Brain of Sierra Leone Clocks Quarter Final
The Brain of Sierra Leone quiz competition which started September is now close to its quarter final stages with twelve qualifying from the provinces and two for the time being qualifiers from Western Area.
According to premier media managing director, Dr. Julius Spencer, the alms of the competition is to re-awaken and sharpen the brain of Sierra Leoneans especially the youths who have grown academically lazy.
