FIFA delegates recognized as retired football heroes

A three man delegation from the world’s football governing body, FIFA, has held a 3-days review assignment on the constitution of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA)

The three officials: Corvano Primo, Stahil Salome and Abega Prosper, made recommendations constitutional to the FA that: the number of football delegates should be reduced from 64 to 49, SLFA executive members should be increased from seven to nine, and that Coaches, Referees and Veterans’ Associations should form part of the delegates in the entourage of football officials in their travelling tours.

Mr. Primo Corvaro said it will be wise for the 67 delegates to vote in favour of the new draft in the FA’s congress meet next month because he considers such resolutions to be good for the development of Sierra Leone’s football.

The retired National Football Heroes (veterans) in their past weekend meeting were delighted for such recognition by FIFA and said this is a show of clear manifestation of how important they are in running a successful football administration.

The longest serving captain and chairman of the veterans association, Umaru Din Sesay, Dr. Foday Bangso, Kama Dumbuya, Kabba China, Joseph Toby, Amidu Karim, Tostao, De Cox, Abu Sankoh, A.D, Papay Lawson and the entire members were delighted over the news as they realised that their labour did not go in vain. Thank God that those who know better about running a successful football administration came to point our importance to them, Umaru Din Sisay noted.

The million dollar question remains whether the FA will endorse the veterans’ full membership as national football legends in April when they meet in their elective congress slated for July or August this year.
