Some FBC Students’ Results Seized
Authentic report has reached Sierra Express Media that following the recently published results of both final and continuing students’ results; some students’ results have not been published by the University administration. Reason as to why their results are withheld was that some students were illegally occupying the hostels without the consent of the administration. It could be remembered that students were denied accommodation following a Students’ Union election which left the hostels in complete ruin. Students from the two main camps on campus were believed to have carried out the vandalism on hostels as a kind of retaliation on the opponent camp. Books and other substantial furniture in the dormitories were destroyed by recalcitrant students on campus. For two years now students have been deprived of their right to stay on campus. As staying on campus provide the suitable atmosphere for students study conveniently without any distraction or attraction from the noisy public out there.
Several appeals have been made to the Students’ Union government under the leadership of Alhaji Abu Komeh for students to reside on campus but all fell on vague promises and deaf ears. As if that was not enough punishment meted out to students, now the University administration has inconsiderately refused to release the final results of all those who obstinately decided to stay on campus without the prior approval of the administration. According to some students who were also victims of the unreleased results and prefer anonymity at the same time have reliably informed Sierra Express Media that the newly appointed Warden, Mr. Monrovia was strictly instructed not to allow any students to stay on campus. But since some students had stubbornly violated the administration’s warning not to reside on campus, they are going to suffer the penalty by holding to their hard earned results indefinitely reports say.Â
One senior member in the recent-past Student Union government, who prefers to remain anonymous has expressed disappointment over the unfair decision taken by the administration as a punishment for defaulters. He explained that “the decision to seize student results as a punishment is not commensurate to one’s hard-earned Degree; afterwards, students who are implicated in this issue were not on campus to play as they were there to achieve their academic goal.”
Meanwhile, the students who are involved in this matter are calling on the Ministry of Education to intervene as their parents are worried over the seizure of results. Some parents are looking at their once trusted sons with contempt of involvement in any malpractice during their stay or failure in their exams.
