Young Leaders welcomes launching of the National Youth Commission
Unisa Dizo-Conteh Junior, president of Young Leaders-Sierra Leone, has welcomed the launching of the National Youth Commission (NYC) in Sierra Leone.
“We are grateful to President Koroma for fulfilling his promise to establish a commission that will serve the youth,” says Dizo Jnr. Adding: “We believe it’s an excellent move and a step in the right direction.”
Dizo says “while the establishment of the NYC seems promising, however, what young people across the country want is to have better education, skills and a good job in the end.”
The NYC was launched by President Koroma on 25 November 2011. The NYC aims to empower the youth to develop their potential, creativity and skills for national development.

what is the website’s address? This is a good move in the right direction. I hope the youth will use it. How will this website benefit the youth? How many youth have access to the internet and can view the information or resources on this new website? who are the primary audiences of this website? Is it the youth or donor agencies? Is this another improvement to attract donor money to help run the daily NYC administration instead of spending it on the youth directly? What has the NYC done so far to help the youth? How many youth can afford a computer or internet access?
