JS Kelfala must step down … stakeholders demand
Football stakeholders in the country have given a week’s ultimatum to the Vice President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Joseph S. Kelfala, to apologize to Rodney Michael the Chairman of Sierra Leone Premier League Board or face resignation.
This, some of the stakeholders said, was as a result of a racial statement he made on radio against the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, Rodney Michael, that he is not a Sierra Leonean but rather an Irish-Lebanese, who virtually does not know anything about Sierra Leone.
That he (Kelfala) had told Rodney he had better to keep his mouth out of any of Sierra Leone’s dealing – so to say- Football.
His mentions as told above, according to our findings, left a number of football stakeholders into serious and uncontrolled ponder, thus demanding that the SLFA boss be dealt with or will be forced to relinquish his position as Vice President.
In his measurement, Tunde Scott who doubles a team manager for East End Lions football club said however, that the statements mentioned of Kelfala are unfortunate and breach the laws of the World Football body FIFA.
He said as an administrator, he must not be seen chanting racism at all.
Rodney Michael, in an interview said he is unhappy with comments made against him by Kelfala, adding that it is truly unfortunate of such a senior football stakeholder.
He said he is disappointed and he will compel the ethics committee to look into his case of racial abuse and take necessary action as required by law.
“I am a loyal Sierra Leonean. I was born and raised in Sierra Leone,” Rodney said.
“I have businesses operating in Sierra Leone. I have been Chairman of the Bo District Football Association, and I have contributed to the development of football in this country.”
