Ice Prince to promote Salone’s Peace
His hit single ‘Oleku’, has been hitting the airwaves in the small West African nation of Sierra Leone. You hardly meet a young Sierra Leonean who cannot sing the lyrics word for word.
Prince Zamani, better known by his stage name, Ice Prince, will perform in Freetown for the first time on 3rd December at the National Stadium main bowl, courtesy of Esquire Entertainment Sierra Leone in conjunction with Phoenix Media UK.
Nick Asghill, one of the organizers, told SaloneJamboree that the theme for this concert is: ‘Celebrating Youth, Peace and Entertainment’.
Dilating on the theme, Asghil said: “60% of Sierra Leone’s population falls between the ages of 16 and 35. Out of that 60%, a huge number, are either not employed or do not have the required education. If we don’t start by teaching them how they can make good use of their lives when it comes to election time they are the same people politicians and other dubious people will go to and fuel them with alcohol and drugs to cause problem.”
The foremost UK based video producer added: “It’s been a great year for Sierra Leone in terms of entertainment. This is the year when Emerson collaborated with P-Square; this is the year when Emerson collaborated with 2 Face. This is the year when we see Shady Baby ‘kill’ America in concert. This is the year we see the first Sierra Leonean female child star. This is the year we signed the copyright act. This is the year SaloneJamboree went into print. Now you tell me if this year is not worth celebrating?”Nick enquired.
“So we are celebrating Youth, Peace and Entertainment, which cover all these achievements and also set precedence for what we want to see happens in 2012,”Asghill stated.
Other notable Nigerian acts including JJC of ‘We Are Africans’ fame will also perform alongside Emerson, Shady Baby and 6 years new kid on the block, Chuby Asa, aka the ‘pikin dem Mama’, among others.
