Sierra Rutile Furnishes Schools
Continuing their commitment to youth education in their areas of operation, Sierra Rutile Limited recently donated 9 million Leones worth of furniture, comprising thirty desks and bench sets, to the United Brethren in Christ (UBC) Primary School in Moriba Town, Imperri Chiefdom.
Speaking at the donation ceremony held at the school, Sierra Rutile Chief Operating Officer, Andy Taylor, assured students and teachers of the company’s continued support for education, observing that “the foundation for development is education, and promoting youth education in the mining area is the best investment the company can make at this point in time.” He also encouraged the children to listen to their teachers and challenged them to consider working for the company in the future. He assured them that, if they worked hard in school, any one of them could be Sierra Rutile’s future Chief Operating Officer.
Thanking Sierra Rutile for their donation was UBC Conference Education Secretary, Albert Combey, and Moriba Town Clerk, Albert Pyne. In addition to expressing their appreciation, they called on the company to extend similar support to other schools in the mining area. Responding to their comments Dauda Kamara, Sierra Rutile’s Community Affairs Manager, explained that the company has donated furniture to schools in the relocated village of Madina and plans are now underway to supply furniture to the Foinda primary school.
