Airtel continues support to REC School Tombo, Sierra Leone
The once dilapidated, deprived Tombo fishing Community School, which was adopted and rehabilitated by Airtel, continues to receive the promises made one year ago by this noble institution. Airtel in support of quality education in Sierra Leone, on Wednesday 26th October 2011, gave REC school Tombo a variety of school items. Over 1,000 pupils received the school items which serve as support and inspiration to the beneficiaries as it helps to reduce the financial burden on the part of the parents. Special gifts surprises were presented to pupils who were promoted with first and second position in all classes. This was intentionally done to motivate other pupils down the ladder to improve their academic Performances.
The presentation was done at the school ground in Tombo in which School bags containing socks, books, lunch packs, water bottle etc were given to them in the presence of their colleagues. Over 18 pupils received these surprises for their hard work in school.
June-Rose Johnson, Corporate Affairs Manager in her statement, urged the pupils to demonstrate seriousness, attentiveness and dedication to their studies as they are the future leaders of this country. She advised that they focus on their studies in order for them to have better profession in future, so they can take their community to another level.
Other school items were also given to the school authorities for the convenience of the children and also for office use. Despite all this support, staff of Airtel continues to sponsor adopted children from this same institution.
This is just a demonstration to show that we are keeping up to our promises to REC Tombo School. AIRTEL FEEL FREE
