Minister, mayor and presidential guard indicted
Content, as in the Shears Moses Commission report, indicts the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Mayor of Freetown, and a Presidential guard, Idrissa Kamara aka Leather Boot.
Albeit government’s refusal to making public the Shears Moses report, Hon. Tamba Sam, in lieu of debate in Parliament said however that the report banned the Minister of Internal Affairs and others from holding public office for a period of five 5 years.
The SLPP MP, Hon told his colleagues Wednesday 26th that the Shears Moses report also recommends that Musa Tarawally be relieved from office without any undue delay.
It is fact that number of human right organizations, civil society movements, opposition political parties etc., have compelled government make public the Shears Moses report, and unfailingly act on recommendations as mentioned in it but gets no result.
Just about a week or two ago, Parliamentary representatives of opposition political parties, SLPP and PMDC boycotted the state re-opening of Sierra Leone Parliament to prove to the governing APC party how frustrated are they over government’s rejection to act upon recommendations as in the Shears Moses’s report.
In spite of assurances by the President, it is still doubtful that the Shears Moses report will be acted upon by government.
That the report appears not to favour government, but rather compelled President Koroma uncompromisingly effect the sacking of Leather Boot (his close protection guard), whom according to the report, was held responsible for perpetrating crimes against guiltless Sierra Leonean women.
It is also a fact that the Mayor of Freetown was held accountable by the report.
