Serious diplomatic problem envisaged as Sierra Leoneans attack Chinese investor

Following the inhuman and degrading treatment meted on staff members working for Julong  Group on the 8th October this year at the Rowaka Village, Konike Barine Chiefdom at Makali in the Tonkolili District by a group of individuals working for Vatra Company Limited, lead by one Fatmata Hassan, if it is not resolved it could create a serious diplomatic problem between the Government of Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China.  An inside source from the Chinese Embassy in Freetown has it that the Chinese Ambassador has been informed and is not happy with the degrading treatment of their citizens. According to Sierra Express ace reporter in the Tonkolili District, it was noted that on October 8th this year, Fatmata Hassan, in an aggressive and violent manner, ordered that some Chinese nationals working for the above mansion company unconditionally leave the mining site.

This medium was further informed that Fatmata Hassan of Vatra Company Limited ordered some youths that were allegedly on drugs to proceed to physically assault Julong workmen causing serious medical complications as medical reports stated.  As a result of the a false report made at the Magbruka Police Station North of Sierra Leone by the ring leader Fatmata Hassan, report states that Julong workmen were arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Freetown.

Investigations carried out by this medium reveal that even when these workers insisted on their innocence and pleaded with the authorities at the CID for their release in order to undergo medical treatment in respect of the assault and injuries inflicted on them, their pleas fell on deaf ears until a Chinese national by the name of Mayong Quig collapsed in Police custody.

This ugly incident if not put to a halt has the tendency to scare off existing and potential investors in Sierra Leone.

However, Julong Mining Company has been instructed to institute private criminal proceedings against individuals of Vatra Company Limited.
