Journalist and four ARS stars off to Man-U clinic in Tanzania
In fulfillment of the promise made at the start of the tournament, Airtel is sending Muctaru Wurie an African sport media reporter, as chaperone and the 4 best players to Tanzania after the nationwide search for grass root talents through the Airtel Rising Stars tournament.
Sierra Leoneans can vividly remember the diligent effort that AIRTEL via its agency partners Medium Hypes made to see the triumphant end of the nationwide search to expose grass talent through the football tournament.
The four best players who are proceeding for training at the Manchester United football clinic in Tanzania, were fairly and transparently selected by renowned sport officials and other reputable panel of judges who were; John G.Cherinton former Leone stars coach, Fajah Barrie BBC reporter, John Dissa former player of Leone Stars and Joseph Toby, former captain of Leone Stars and presently sport council member.
The two lucky girls; Mariatu Conteh from Suba United (East), and Rashidatu Kamara of Red Eaglet (West) were selected for the female wing, while Hamza Kamara of 13th legion (West) and Patrick Gbenda of Makebie Stars (East) who secured the coveted position.
The four Airtel football superstars have been hosted at the National Stadium hostels for the past weeks for intensive training before leaving for the Man-U clinic. This training was conducted by the legendary football star of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Kallon. He showed appreciation to Airtel and demonstrated love for football as he single-handedly trained the four winners intensively. The players with great anticipation, trained with all seriousness so as to bring glory back home to mama Salone.
Keith Tukei, the Acting Managing Director said that “Airtel has a dream of becoming the most loved brand in Africa. Sending four young talents to the Manchester clinic in Tanzania is just a start to demonstrate our commitment”.
The team will leave on board Kenya Airways on Sunday to join their counterparts from other Airtel operations in Africa.
