UN to investigate Mohamed Bangura’s visit

Mohamed Bangura, one-time chairman of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) party, now interim leader United Democratic Movement (UDM) Party, is under investigation by the United Nations (UN) on grounds depicting accusation that attended the UN general assembly illegally and held meeting with the UN Chief of Staff in New York.

Some weeks ago, Mohamed Bangura, who claimed to have witnessed a United Nations meeting in New York, told sections of the Sierra Leone media that he has complained the Executive Representative of the UN Secretary General in Sierra Leone, Michael Schulenburg to the UN Chief of Staff in New York.

His claims, however, was refuted by the United Nations Integrated Peace building Office in Sierra Leone (UNIPSIL) barely after the publication of a press release, which among other things, disproved charlatans of Mohamed Bangura regarding allegations that he has had a meeting with the UN Secretary General, his Chief of Staff and other pertinent UN officials in New York to purposely complaining the ERSG in Sierra Leone.

The release nevertheless reminded Sierra Leoneans that Mohamed Bangura’s right of entry into the UN secretariat building at a time of high security during the opening of the general assembly, seems baffling and is currently been investigated.

Credible information reaching this press states that Mohamed Bangura was allowed entry at the UN office in New York after providing evidential confirmation to security officers on duty at the UN head office.

Even though Mohamed Bangura has still not told his status while at the UN assembly to the meeting in New York, he was observed as saying to crews of radio 98.1 FM that he was allowed access at the UN office after identifying himself as an adviser; but did not tell which kind of adviser he was at all.

That there is no record at United Nations in New York that Mohamed submitted a letter to any authorized UN unit at all.

It is a fact that Mohamed recently told the media that he was at the United Nation Assembly meeting (held this September) where he officially submitted a letter of complaint against the UN ERSG in Sierra Leone, indicting him of meddling in the local politics of Sierra Leone.

Just about weeks of Mohamed’s alleged submission of a letter of complaint to the office of the UN in New York, the office of UNIPSIL in Sierra Leone, in response, practically put out a press release, stating in clear terms that the UN as an organization neither received a letter allowed Mohamed Bangura hold meeting with the UN Secretary General, his Chief of Staff or any authorized UN official at all.

It has reached desks of Sierra Express Media that Mohamed Bangura has had restless moments, stand-in as ventriloquist for the ruling All People Congress (APC) party nay his never-ending appearances at studios of radio and TV stations to say oddities against respectful diplomats working in Sierra Leone.

Unconfirmed revelations are that the establishment of the UDM as a political party came after promises of unending financial supports were given Mohamed Bangura by number of high and nameless political figures of the APC.

He was assured of supports from the powers that be as long as he blows their horns during periods of elections. Read press release below.
