WAEC Trembles over media report
Following Sierra Express Media’s front page publication of Monday 2nd with headline as “WAEC Examination Malpractices Exposed,” sources at the West Africa Examination Council have revealed that senior officials of WAEC have had restless moments accusing one or more for leaking an official secret to the press.
A senior WAEC official who spoke to this press on grounds of anonymity yesterday disclosed to our reporter that it is the habit of a number of examination officers to willfully fail persons undertaking the WASCE examination and then deliberately give free marks to ghost students who never at all attempts to take the exam.
“Enough is enough; we want the Anti Corruption Commission investigate WAEC as an institution. There are thousands of pupils suffering as a result of wicked conducts of cabalists at WAEC,” the source said.
“Once the Anti Corruption institutes investigation on WAEC, it is sure things will unravel.”
“The Government through the Ministry of Education should do something to put to halt uncalled for examination happenings at WAEC now.”
It has reached desks of this press that majority of pupils that sat to the 2010-2011 WASCE examination failed owing to WAEC’s officials selling of grades to ghost pupils, who never took the exams at all.
The head of WAEC, Sheriff Sapateh, was contacted but refused talking to our reporter rather unceremoniously shutting his mobile telephone on him.
