London Mining awards bonus
As an award for their dedication and hard work over the last 6 months, London Mining Company has recently awarded bonuses to its nearly 1,000 permanent staff.
The company announced that the Le900bn ($200m) construction project, comprising a state-of-the-art processing plant, 43 km dedicated haul road, river port at Thofayim in Port Loko District and marine works in the Port Loko River, is on track for completion by the end of the year. Recognising its permanent staffs’ efforts in meeting this landmark, the company awarded each with cash bonuses of up to 104% of monthly salary and a 50kg bag of rice. The award took place over the weekend of the 12th September, coinciding with the start of the new school term.
Daniel Pop, Managing Director of London Mining Company, said, “We have put together a first-class team of national and international staff, who have shown admirable dedication. Our on-the-job training programs are working well and work-teams have been putting in consistently long hours. The bonus is to thank our employees for their hard work and collaborative employee relations.”
London Mining employs 950 permanent Sierra Leonean staff and 350 casual staff, with priority given to suitably qualified residents of the Lunsar area. Later this year the company will open a permanent training facility in Lunsar, continuing its work of skill development in Sierra Leone.
