Miss SaLone targets world crown
The owner of the most coveted ‘Miss Sierra Leone’ crown, Swadu Natasha Beckley has vowed nothing will stop her clinch the ‘Miss World’ title this year.
She made this disclosure Thursday 15th while speaking to the Sierra Leone media at the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.
In her statement, the 24 year old, with a jet-black complexion, about 6 feet tall apart from financial constraints, possessed the attributes that are sure to give her a win in the ‘Miss World’ contest scheduled to take place in London in October this year.
In a poised and determined mood, Natasha assured Sierra Leoneans that if given the needed financial and moral supports she will unfailingly promote the image of Sierra Leone internationally.
She revealed nevertheless that President Koroma has provided her with financial support, and therefore urged upright and forward looking persons including those in the business world to imitate the President’s good gesture.
Natasha who started pageantry in 2008, underscored the importance of education in the profession and said, this has urged her initiate Sisters Supporting Sisters, a non-governmental organisation working with underprivileged girls in the field of education and health.
The International Relations graduate said she will be undertaking a master’s programme at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and wants to serve as a role model for girls.
Natasha who fluently speaks French, English, and Swahili said she is ready to give pageantry a different look in Sierra Leone.
“Most Sierra Leoneans view pageantry as a profession for school dropouts and irresponsible girls, and this is what I want to definitely change,” she concluded.
