IMC condems attack of journalists
The Independent Media Commission, (IMC) wishes to condemn the attacks by two presidential guards on four (4) journalists who were covering the CAF/African Nation Cup Match between Sierra Leone and Egypt at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The IMC welcomes the president’s intervention with the institution of a police investigation into the matter.
The IMC would, however, call for a broad based investigating committee including the Human Right Commission and other Civil Society groups and with a definite timeline.
The IMC further calls on the Security Forces to recognize the role of Media Practitioners in society when they are on official assignment to keep the nation informed.
