Bangura set for Europa debut
Sierra Leone Scottish base Striker Mohamed Pobosky Bangura (in photo) will play this year’s UEFA Europa league after the Hoop won an appeal against FC Sion of Switzerland, Sierra Express Media reliable reports.
FC Sion was charged by UEFA with fielding ineligible players in both Europa Playoff ties against the Hoops and the two matches were played under protest by Celtic, however Neil Lennon side were held to a goalless draw and later lost 3-1 to the Swiss away.
According to report, Bangura will be playing against Athletico Madrid, Udinese and Rennes in the group stages of this year’s Europa League Competition which is a welcoming news for the former AIK Slona hit man who made his transfer on the last day of transfer after he passes his medical.
In an interview with Sierra Express Media in Freetown before he left for Scotland last evening, Bangura said he is happy that his club will be playing Europa this season after the club won the appeal.
Bangura who scored the winning goal from a penalty spot for Leone Stars against Egypt last Saturday said playing the Europa is a big achievement for him.
“My next target would be to play the UEFA Champions League one day, but as for now I want to improve on my game and become a hero for my club,” he said.
