It was an extraordinary Saturday afternoon on August 19 gathering that was interspersed with mammoth acclaims for the hard working Nanette Thomas. The event was held at the Church of God in Garland, Dallas, Texas, and it lasted for about six hours. Several issues ranging from honoring the outgoing President, formation of a new executive, membership drive, to finances, were deliberated on.
To show gratitude to Ms. Nanette Thomas, the resigning president of APC Dallas Chapter, a plaque demonstrating how dynamic and effective she has been during her reign in the Chapter, was presented to her.
Almost every member of the group in attendance spoke beautifully and unreservedly about the good deeds of Nanette Thomas the community leader. “It will not come to an end; your deeds speak for you far better than anything I can say” Jenneh Koroma said in her farewell remarks.
Presenting the plaque to Ms. Thomas, the veteran politician and former APC Secretary General, Mr. E.T.Kamara congratulated the outgoing president saying that he would not let a memorable occasion like this pass by without sending to the departing president his hearty congratulations.
He said that, even though his days are numbered, he is always ready to share his experience with the APC party and lift up any member of its administration.
He further asserted that Ms. Nanette Thomas’ entrance into the Ernest Koroma’s administration came about at the right time when the women’s wing of the party are gearing up to challenge for the 2017 elections should the need arise. He concluded. “I will not make any mention of the 2012 election because APC has already won”
In his debutante as an APC member, Pastor John Kanu maintained that if the Iron Lady proved worthy in her execution, she should fear no one so long as she has the backing of this president and God’s blessings. “The reason is that”, Pastor kanu went on, “President Koroma is looking for a tower of strength and a strong force for progress and Nanette Thomas fits in those characteristics.
Mr. Alfred Sesay, an APC die-hard, lamented that in all of his dealings with her, he believes that Nanette has always shown patience and tolerance – qualities which will soon come in handy as a National Coordinator of the Attitudinal and Behavioral Change (ABC). Mr. Sesay advised Ms. Thomas to continue her good work. Mr. Sheik Daboh, the defeated presidential candidate in the recently concluded Tegloma election commended Nanette Thomas by saying, “Your are the best for the job”
Mr. Daniel Kanu, former Secretary General, APC Dallas Chapter, maintained that through her vigor and active devotion to the ideals of the APC party, Mrs. Thomas has set a standard for them to emulate. He expressed his appreciations to Ms. Thomas for the energy, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness with which she served as the president of the chapter. He added that the outgoing president will be an ambassador of the chapter. He also advised Ms. Thomas to maintain the principle of open door policy.
After three years of her service as president of the APC Dallas chapter, the group believes that Ms. Thomas has proven herself to be a woman of courage, humility and integrity with a great personal charm. Her outstanding contribution towards our country’s development and other humanitarian ventures marked Nanette to be a true Sierra Leonean worthy of commendation and emulation.
The outgoing President thanked the members for their teamwork and informed them that the task ahead of her is enormous and the challenges are great. She stressed that she is quite confident that with God by her side the sky will be her limit. She wished the chapter the best in their deliberations and bid the member’s good bye.
Mr. Mambu J. Koroma, former Vice President will serve as the next president of APC Dallas Chapter as prescribed by the APCNA Bylaws, to continue with Nanette Thomas’ term of office. It was a unanimous decision by the group after a long deliberation.
