Pipe borne water for Port Loko
Port Loko town will soon benefit from pipe borne water supply.
The project engineer, Hassan Y. Kamara disclosed to the New Citizen that they have received over Le6 billion from government, in partnership with the Port Loko District Council, to rehabilitate the dam for the supply of water to the township.
Hassan Y. Kamara said that the rehabilitation work on the dam is almost 85% complete and promised the people that President Ernest Bai Koroma would commission the dam in February next year.
“Currently, we are working to network the main pipes from the dam to the township,” he disclosed and appealed to government for additional funding for the work to be completed on time.
Chief Administrator, Port Loko District Council, Alfred Nabieu Samura commended the engineers for their professionalism revealing that council is closely monitoring the work.
Mr. Samura also said that council is working hard to secure more funds from government to employ youths to connect the pipes to the various streets in the township.
Council’s Finance Officer, Abdul Bangura appealed to the community to desist from damaging the expensive pipes that cost government huge sums of money.
