SLPP big man endorses John Benjamin

Opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) strongman, Mohamed A. Sandy, is the latest to openly endorse the candidature of John Oponjo Benjamin (JOB), who is seeking re-election for the position of National Chairman and Leader of the SLPP.

M A Sandy who contested against JOB and attained second position during the March 2009 national officers’ elections of the SLPP, over the weekend, announced in Kenema that he was “one hundred percent in support of JOB’s re-election bid”.

Confirming his decision to back John Benjamin’s bid, M A Sandy told Awareness Times in a telephone interview that JOB is the only fittest candidate to take the SLPP to the 2012 elections. Benjamin, he said, has demonstrated mature leadership, “thus the must for all SLPP members to appreciate his dynamic and mature leadership qualities”

“I am therefore calling on all my supporters to throw weight behind John Benjamin’s bid as the latter has proved himself as a force to reckon with in the country’s political landscape,” Sandy noted. He furthered that members from the camp of a certain flagbearer aspirant recently asked him to join their struggle to remove JOB from the party’s chairmanship. “They told me that they were having difficulties to actualize their mission to remove JOB, and that I should join their team as an indigene from the east of Sierra Leone to serve as morale booster towards the success of their desperate fight,” he exposed.

“I simply told them that I was not going to join a crazy fight,” Sandy disclosed, adding that any SLPP member that is against JOB’s re-election bid is not seeking the interest of the party.

John Benjamin, he continued, has selflessly served the party over the years. “We are therefore obliged to give him a second term to continue the good work,” he intimated.

“I am on a massive sensitization drive to remind the people of the east about the unique leadership qualities of JOB,” sandy stated, while noting that he had already engaged the people of Kenema and Panguma. “As I speak to you now, am heading for Tongo and Kono Benjamin is just our best,” Sandy noted, while calling on all patriotic SLPP members to overwhelmingly vote for JOB at the forthcoming national officers elections to be held at the Miatta Conference Hall in Freetown.

John Benjamin stands out to be the most popular candidate for the position of National Chairman and leader, as party big wigs continue to back his re-election bid a daily basis.
