Sierra Express Media awards football stakeholders

Five of the six recipients, Fred Clay who doubles as executive manager of Sheffield FC, George Nelson-Williams executive manager Armani FC, Nasser Ayoub Vice Chairman East End Lions FC, Abubakarr Kabba aka Sweet Kay former administrative secretary Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), and Abubakarr Kanu aka ABK sport commentator/analyst Kalleone Radio and the Young Sport Club, respectfully received certificates from the management of Sierra Express Media (SEM) at a ceremony held at the newspaper’s head office at No. 13 Pademba Road, Freetown, Sierra Leone, Friday 15th.
Speaking at the ceremony, the editor of SEM, Ibrahim Samura, told recipients of the awards, that Sierra Express Media as an organization wants to see football expand in Sierra Leone.
He said the award serves as a token of appreciation for the enormous and worthy contributions of all the awardees in the area of football.
“Just as respective media organizations the world over appreciate contributions of individuals on issues of national development, so also is Sierra Express Media in Sierra Leone,” Ibrahim Samura said.
“You, who today received certificates and medals for laudable contributions in the promotion of football in Sierra Leone, should now accept as true that Sierra Leoneans appreciate your efforts and will always have you in mind.”
Receiving the awards, Fred Clay manager Sheffield FC, and George Nelson-Williams manager Armani FC, both expressed gratitude to the organizers of the awards.
“After years of effortless contributions in the promotion of football in this country, this is the first ever award given me. It is now clear that I shall have something to show to my family that will surely tell of my involvement in the tireless promotion of football in Sierra Leone,” Fred Clay said.
“Anyway, allow me to say to SEM editor Ibrahim Samura that we feel proud to receive the awards bestowed on us. Thanks to SEM for conferring us with certificates and medals in appreciation of our good work,” George Nelson-Williams emphasized.
In his keynote address, the proprietor and CEO of Sierra Express Media, Chukwu Adeyemi Paul, congratulated the awardees and admonished them to continue with their good work.
He called on football loving organizations, individuals, and groups to emulate the conduct of Fred Clay, George Nelson-Williams, Abubakarr Kabba, Abubakarr Kamara, and Nasser Ayoub in the promotion of football in the country in general.
Other speakers included SEM’s sport correspondent, Prince Scott, who lauded the contributions of the recipients of the awards and announced Sierra Express Media will also be hosting sports achievement awards in December this year.
