DFID vexed at NRA boss
Representatives of the Department for International Development (DFID) Monday 11th frowned on the acting NRA Boss, Madam Haja Kallah Kamara (in photo), who for no reason, caused the cancellation of the handing ceremony of donor sponsored Lungi custom facilities.
DFID officials and other personalities arrived at the Lungi customs, waited for three/four hours, but left after realizing that the head of NRA, Madam Kallah, whose expected presence at the ceremony seemed not visible at all.
She was to deliver a speech during the handing over of the Lungi customs office facility which, according to findings, was sourced and financed by British tax payers money (DFID).
Madam Kallah, we are told, contacted the Lungi office to notify them that she made an attempt to catch up with the NASSIT ferry at the government wharf, but unfortunately missed it.
This, according to her, was the rationale behind her absence in Lungi for the meeting.
That the lateness or practical absence of the acting NRA Boss, undoubtedly frustrated efforts of the donors (DFID), who, according sources, have spent millions in the refurbishment and provision of user-friendly facilities for use at Lungi customs office.
It has reached this press that lawyer Grace Colliridge Taylor has recently resigned her position as board member at the NRA on grounds depicting appalling conduct of the current NRA boss.
Facts also have it that the head of internal control and audit at the NRA, Philip Koroma, has sworn an oath to uncompromisingly expose corruption indulgences of senior officials at the authority.
Just last week, it was told that the head of finance Abdulai Conteh, the Corporate Secretary Alimamy O. Kamara and Billal Kargbo, confronted the head of audit and were using invectives against him.
