US envoy impressed with World Vision projects

He said World Vision is one the US based Christian organisation that deserve more funding to implement sustainable transformation projects in remote communities where basic developments are lacking through the Integrated Programming Model (IPM)  of the Area Development Program (ADP) of World Vision

The US Ambassador made this statement in Pujehun District after visiting World Vision child focused projects and discussing with some of the beneficiaries.

He said World Vision is doing a remarkable work in these under developed communities to restore the dignity of the people and also empowering them for the implementation of sustainable development projects.

The US Ambassador stated  that World Vision’s Integrated Programming Model (IPM) is one of the best approaches in rural development which ensures the active participation of communities in the implementation of the projects.

He said the World Vision approach is to build the capacity of the people with knowledge and skills for an increase sense of project ownership so that the people can contribute to their own development.

World Vision is making huge differences in rural areas by supporting community development initiatives and also building the human resource capacity of children for the development of the future generation.

“I am impressed with the level assistance provided by World Vision Sierra Leone towards the development of the country after the war.” He assured

The US envoy called on the United States Government and other partners for more funding towards the implementation of community driven projects that transform the lives of poor communities and assured World Vision of their continued support.

Briefing the US envoy at Masam Kpaka in Pujehun District World Vision Acting Base Team Leader Momoh Juana said the organization is child focused and works with deprived communities in providing support towards community development.

He said world vision has changed its approach towards development through the Integrated Programming Model which creates a forum for both the NGO and the beneficiaries to implement projects together so as to create a sense of ownership.

Mr. Juana said World Vision is building the capacity of communities and is highly involved in supporting education, health and child advocacy for an improved society.

The United States envoy was taken on conducted tour of World Vision Projects in Blama Massaquoi which means going through terrible road networks and underdeveloped communities just to get a feedback about the impact of World Vision Support.

He also met with cross section of traditional chiefs from Pujehun District who expressed gratitude towards the United States Government for funding World Vision projects and called for continued technical and financial assistance towards Sierra Leone.

One of the Paramount Chiefs from Gallines Peri Chiefdom Alhaji Kamara Koroma said Pujehun is among the least developed districts in the country and called for support in the areas of road rehabilitation, health, education and employment opportunities for the youths.
