Press statement – World Vision

Freetown, Sierra Leone – Our attention has been drawn to a recent headline in the Sierra Express Media newspaper and website of Friday 23rd November 2018, accusing World Vision of portraying Sierra Leone in a bad light while promoting the needs of the country’s most vulnerable children.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

We value people, and our goal is to protect and respect the dignity of the people we serve, while drawing attention to the needs of the most vulnerable among those who may wish to help. This has been our approach since we commenced our operations in Sierra Leone.

We are investigating the allegation, about a video reported to have been released by partners in the UK. In the meantime, we are committed to continuing to serve the vulnerable children in Sierra Leone, and to maintain the positive collaboration we have built up with the Government and people of the country for the past 22 years.
