NPA to generate Le 100 billion in 2011

The National Power Authority, it is revealed, has projected revenue collection for 2011 at Le100 billion.

Sources say the authority will dependably generate the said amount if they get consumers and government institutions to pay bills they owe.

Facts have it that the authority, in 2010, collected over Le 80 billion.

It is to the understanding of Sierra Express Media that the out of control power off ‘blackout’ in the Western Area is undoubtedly owing to the low power output from Bumbuna.

It has reached this press that power supply from the Bumbuna hydro has dropped severely to 6 mgw.

Inside NPA Sources say that an amount of about Le 40 billion has been paid to Bumbuna since it was commissioned in November of 2009.

Indiscriminate assessments of public’s analysis indicate that residents of Freetown are unhappy over the low turn out of electricity in Freetown.

Indicators also have it that the NPA needs not pay a lump sum amount to management of Bumbuna hydro for providing meager 6 megawatts of electricity.

Credible information states that the NPA relies on the two thermal stations at Kingtom and Blackhall Road to mitigate the challenges it faces in the improvement of power supply in the Western Area.

Concerns raised by the public weigh up facts that the Bumbuna hydro is meaningless to the lives of the ordinary Sierra Leonean.

It could be recalled that the construction of Sierra Leone’s Bumbuna hydro started way back in 1974.

Since then up until November of 2009, it is still not confirmed fit and ready to supply light to residents of Freetown, not to say Sierra Leone.

Reflection must be drawn to the lyrics of one of Sierra Leone’s musical legends, Emmerson Bockarie, who in his album titled, “yesterday betteh pass tiday,’ said the Bumbuna power station has got no realism but is a complete fake.
