IPAM Celebrate 29th Anniversary
The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, situated at A. J Momoh Street, Tower Hill and George Street Campus at 4 George Street, is celebrating its 29th anniversary today 5th November at 10:00am at its main campus on Tower Hill, Freetown
According to a report reaching Sierra Express Media this year’s foundation day will be celebrated in a momentous way as it marks the 29th year since the institution started work in 1980/1981 academic year, as it also follows the launching of a noteworthy course in the history of IPAM that is the Postgraduate Diploma in Mines Management course.
There will also be the commissioning of a building project which IPAM is poised to embark on to add to the lecture rooms and hall on a parcel of land at the Tower Hill campus since the college campus is becoming too small for the growing population of students wanting to enrol in that university.
Report also has it that the college is linked with a project of building a new campus at Kent on a 30 acre land provided by the government of Sierra Leone.
This 2009 academic year saw a change of guard at the Institute with the former Director and Dean of Campus Dr. Bert Williams being replaced by Professor Ekundayo J. D. Thompson as the new Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Institution.
The coming of the new Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, early last month has seen significant changes within his short tenure not only with the proposed building of a new structure to facilitate lectures for students to learn in a conducive atmosphere but also the speed at which he is working to address the urgent needs of students of that university.
Sources intimated this press that this new Deputy Vice Chancellor has within a short period overhauled significant short and long term courses now designed to meet the range of business and management disciplines in Sierra Leone.
Students of this institution intimated this press that this year’s foundation celebration seems to suggest the beginning of new dawn at IPAM judging from the rapid refurbishment taking place at the university presently.
