UNIDO appoints Sierra Leonean as Representative to Nigeria and Regional Director
Dr. Patrick Kormawa, a Sierra Leonean Economist has been appointed Regional Director and Representative to Nigeria by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Dr Kormawa is an economist with over 20 years of professional experience in development policy, agribusiness and industrial development. Prior to his appointment as the UNIDO Representative and Director, Regional Office, Abuja, Nigeria, Dr. Kormawa served in various senior positions at the UNIDO Head Quarters. He was Head of the Agribusiness Development Unit, prior to that; the Head, International Financial Institutions Partnerships and Senior Adviser in the Office of the Director-General.
Before joining UNIDO, Dr. Kormawa worked in various senior research and development leadership positions in international agricultural research centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research. He was a senior economist and coordinator, Rural Sector Enhancement Program at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Nigeria; Assistant Director of Research and Program Leader, West Africa Rice Development Association
Dr. Kormawa graduated from Njala University College in 1984 and proceeded to Germany for postgraduate studies. He holds a PhD from the University of Hohenheim, Msc degree from University of Giessen, Germany and has also been trained at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, in Financial Institutions for Private Enterprise Development.

UNIDO with Head Quarters in Vienna, Austria has four Regional Offices in Africa (Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria and South Africa). The Regional Office in Nigeria covers West Africa.
