Let the APC stop blaming Usman Boie for their own mess
The We Yone Newspaper of Monday, May 23, under the banner headline: “Did SLPP Presidential aspirant influence NYC strike action,” made unfounded, baseless and spurious accusations that “The Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Presidential flagbearer aspirant, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara (in photo) did make overtures to certain officials of the National Youth Coalition (NYC) to influence the strike ultimatum given the All People Congress (APC) Government.”
The article further alleged that Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara sent emissaries to the NYC “to convince some members of the executive to use the inconveniences caused to the general public as a result of moving from imperial to metric system of measurement as a spring board to provoke public disturbances that will undermine the stability of the Government and paint the APC in a bad light.”
The article also alleged that according to a very close source to the SLPP circles, “Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara has promised to bank roll the strike action providing funds to transport people from every part of the country to the city.”
The article also claimed that “some civil society activists have promised the National Youth Coalition of available support to ensure the strike action reverses the gains made by the Government.”
As a newspaper that is concerned with the well-being of this nation, we were naturally worried by the said article. In an attempt therefore to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the said story our investigative team immediately mounted a full scale investigation into the matter and our findings have revealed that the said article was not only a concoction of lies by the APC We Yone Newspaper but a clever and cheap ploy to turn the attention of the people from the hardship and suffering brought on the people of this country because of the present hike in fuel prices occasioned by the removal of subsidies and are looking for an unsuspecting scapegoat in the person of a respected gentleman Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara whose political stature has scared the hell out of them.
Some of us who are very conversant with the APC’s many tactics are aware that whenever they make serious blunders they look for unsuspecting individuals, groups or organizations to blame for their ineptitude.
At the present moment Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara is engrossed in his campaign for the SLPP flagbearer slot, all his energies and resources are being expended towards that goal and he does not even have the time, energy or resources to engage in other less noble pursuits.
We also discovered that like all peace loving Sierra Leoneans, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara is a law abiding citizen who has used his time, energy, and resources and continues to do so, to consolidate the peace and stability of this country. His track record is an open book of patriotism, nationalism and dogged determination to effect positive change for the good of this nation.
We are aware that the APC Government currently seems to be bereft of ideas on how to address the present political, social and economic woes of this country and in their desperation they will want to look for scapegoats.
We regard this as cheap politics which the people of this nation cannot and will not buy. Those days of such cheap politics are gone, over and buried. Never again can the APC use them to pull wool over the peoples’ eyes. Shame!
Perhaps what is needed now is for the Government to engage men of sound ideas like Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara to find solutions to our problems instead of trying to play cheap politics.
The people can no longer be fooled. The handwriting is on the wall-the people of this country are suffering too badly. There is very urgent need to address our worsening situation before this nation goes up in flames.
