Office of Administrator and Registrar-General raises 300% revenue

The National Revenue Authority has commended the Office of Administrator-General for its outstanding performance towards revenue generation in Sierra Leone.

In 2009, the NRA wrote a letter of commendation to the Registrar-General, appreciating her revenue generation hike from a monthly average of Le70 million to an unprecedented collection of Le 165 million for the month of April.

Administrator and Registrar general, Mrs. Mariama Seray Kallay (in photo) has proudly revealed that she has been able to raise revenue by 300%. According to her, this achievement is due to the mechanisms she put in place and her introduction of one-step-shop at her department. She informed that she has received a good number of fake documents which she refused to sign, adding that the office is currently under restructuring. She said they will be capacitated by government and the ICF for better productivity.

However, the Registrar General office in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will hold a two day forum on the use of intellectual property for technological capacity building. This national policy forum, according to the administrator, will be held in Freetown from April 7th to 8th April 2011. She noted that the forum will also attract national and international experts on intellectual property policy-markers and other intellectual property stakeholders on the use of intellectual property as a toy for economic growth and sustainable national development.
