Youth cries for justice

Josiah John has told this paper that on December 21 last year he was involved in a gruesome road accident with the vehicle of Mrs. Mary Kai Sandy, the wife of Dr Dennis Sandy, (in photo) Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, at Hill Station in Freetown which left him with a broken leg and arm.

He also explained that Mrs. Sandy took him to the 34 Military Hospital at Wilberforce to get medical treatment but did not give him enough money to take care of his bills.

He further stated that the accident occurred when Mrs. Sandy’s Driver tried to overtake the bike he was riding on.

He further explained that when he was asked by the Doctors to quit the hospital he asked his parents to take him up country to try the traditional method of treatment.

He further explained that Mrs. Sandy only gave him the sum of five hundred thousand Leones as to cover his expenses.

He also stated that what completely discouraged him was the agreement Mrs. Sandy made that the money she had given him meant that she had no more responsibility towards him.

Josiah, in tears, stated that his condition has not improved but that when he approached Mrs. Sandy she told him that she was through with him.

He said since he is not financially strong her cannot take her to court and called on human rights organizations to come to his aid.

All efforts to get Mrs. Sandy to react to these allegations were in vain as her telephone was constantly switched off.
