Sierra Leone may prove too strong in Niamey… Okafor

Charles Okafor a Nigeria soccer pundit who watched Sierra Leone National side against South Africa in Freetown in the second match of the ongoing African Nations Cup qualifier has called on Sierra Express Media to say Sierra Leone rising stars may prove too strong in Niamey this Sunday.  (Photo:  Leone Stars)

“Watching Sierra Leone against South Africa at home when both sides play 0-0 no one can imagine South Africa will leave the Freetown Stadium undefeated, it was a performance you will think if they can repeat in Niger in my opinion I think they will work out victorious,” Okafor said.

But was also quick to mention the threat that the Mena’s of Niger posses knowing they defeated Egypt in their own soil and lies second in the group.

“It going to be a great atmosphere for their home fans taking into consideration they defeated the former African champions Egypt.

That’s their motivation against Sierra Leone; however Sierra Leone has the players that can upset any nation in today’s African football, if they can repeat their form in Cairo, it’s beyond doubt a tough contest and a vital three points for both sides if they are to keep a realistic chance for Gabon Equatorial Guinea 2012.”

Sierra Leone national team have already undertaken their first training session under the new Swedish coach Olof Mattsson for the Mena’s, and today more foreign based players are expected to complete the squad.

  • Bravo Leone Stars, I am optimistic at the prospect of qualifying for the next coming Nations Cup. As evidence by the Leone Stars last performance against the Bafana Bafana boys on our soil, we have the parallel talent to match up with current African soccer giants nations like Nigeria and Ghana if coupled with good management.
