Sierra Leone Ambassador to China takes leave of President Koroma

Sierra Leone’s ambassador designate to the Peoples Republic of China Mr. Joseph Mono Koroma (in photo)  Tuesday 22nd March 2011 took leave of President Ernest Bai Koroma during a farewell ceremony held at State House in Freetown.

Ambassador Koroma was presented to the President by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ebun Jusu, while he was accompanied by his family and the Political and Public Affairs Minister, Alhaji Alpha Kanu.

In a brief farewell remarks Ambassador Koroma said since his appointment were announced by President Koroma, he had been quiet, reflecting on where the President wants him to go.

‘My job is a big challenge but I will do by best to live up to the expectations of my country and by President’, vowed Ambassador Koroma.

Mr. Koroma promised to rely on the experience, vision and guidance of President Koroma as in line with his government’s ‘Agenda for Change’. He expressed his profound gratitude to his the President particularly for his appointment to represent the country as an emissary in the Peoples Republic of China.

For his part, President Koroma acknowledged that it hasn’t been an easy task in appointing an ambassador to China, noting that having carefully screened through and out of cabinet as well as beyond, he decided to appoint Mr. Joseph Mono Koroma as an ambassador, considering his diplomatic experience.

The President thus expressed a high level of confidence in Ambassador Koroma and encouraged him to enhance the long standing bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and the Peoples Republic of China.

He asked him to look out for much mutual benefit and export to China, reminding Ambassador Koroma of Sierra Leone’s tourism potential and mining industry.

President Koroma said that it is a great task but believed that as an ambassador of his status envoy he will succeed, whilst reassuring him of government’s total support at all times.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Joseph Mono Koroma and his family are due to leave the shores of Sierra Leone for a real diplomatic mission in China on Friday 25th March 2011.
