President Koroma strengthens insurance
President Ernest Bai Koroma has left Freetown to launch the West African Re-insurance Corporation in Lagos, Nigeria.
The visit on the invitation of the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA) coincides with the three-day WAICA Education Conference at which the launching will take place.
WAICA Executives, led by its President, Mrs. Alice Anomaka were at State House recently to inform President Koroma about the decision and efforts to establish a Regional Re-insurance institute in Freetown.
The institute, according to WAICA, will help to mitigate the effects of the lack of re-insurance capacity within the West African Insurance industry.
The agreement for Re-insurance Corporation Regional Headquarters in Freetown will be signed during the launching ceremony in Lagos.
At the same time, President Koroma will also personally decorate President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria with the Award of Grand Patron of the West African Insurance Institute at the invitation of the West African Insurance Institute, during the launching ceremony.
President Koroma is expected back in Freetown tomorrow (Wednesday March16th).
