Health Minister talks on tele medicine

The Minister of Health and Sanitation Dr. Sheku Tejan Koroma (photo) on Thursday 22nd October at the weekly press briefing held at the Information Ministry 6th floor Youyi building informed journalists about a Tele Medicine Project as being part of the pan-African project to assist African countries with e-governance with the aim to improving the skill of Medical Practitioners in carrying out their work effectively with certain medical procedures.

He further stated the medical institutions in India are linked via Senegal which serves as the nucleus in West Africa. Dr. Sheku Tejan Koroma went on to say the Ministry of Information and Communication, Foreign Affairs, Health and Sanitation and the University of Sierra Leone formed the task force to oversee the entire pan-African e-governance project in the country.

He noted that the rehabilitation work at the site has been completed both for the installation of the satellite dish and the networking computer in the control room to the satisfaction of the India Engineers and the Ministry and that the Indian Engineers have installed the dish and completed the networking aspect of the project as the projectors have been put in place and time table drawn for Sierra Leone practitioners to interface with their counterpart in India.

Ernest Koroma will officially launch the Pan–African e-government on the 3rd November 2009.
